Well there are a number of things wrong with it.
Don't get me wrong, I have two daughters, 5 grandkids and no son in laws.
At her age, her body is still developing. She runs a real risk of physical harm to herself and posibly to the baby.
Emotionally, she will find it very hard to cope. She hasn't had a childhood of her own yet, now she's going to be a mother.
Health, recent medical reports show that new born babies have above acceptable levels of nicatine and cancer causing chemicals in their systems if the mother smokes. Not to mention the effects of second hand smoke after the baby is born.

I agree with WS. Young women are perfectly capable of having children without a spouse around. My daughter wasn't married either when she had her first baby. But she was 19...
But its not an issue of the girl not having a spouse, its her age that makes this traumatic. The health issues to her as well as the baby, both before and after the baby is born.
I also don't think much of the girls mother.
I know we've had discussions on abortion and how opinions very from totally against to totally for, but in the case of this child, I think it would have been a favorable idea.
For the mother to say she's not ashamed of her daughter should not be the issue. Its a matter the mother not looking after the welfare of her daughter.
And an eleven year old smoking a pack a day is not a good thing.
My heart goes out to the child losing her childhood. But like I said, I don't think much of the girls mother.

My heart goes out to this young girl. What happened to mothers giving thei daughters advice? As others have said this girl has lost her chilhood. I was 17 when I had my first daughter, having married at 16. (I soon realised why my mother said 'Dont') I lost my teenage years. Catrina

I live in a town where this sort of thing is common. I was in 6th grade when people started gettin pregnant. One girl I knew Had her 1st baby in 6th grad and her 2cnd at the end of 7th and by 9th grade she had 3 kids and one one the way. Amazingly enough she did graduate but it was a year late.
I feel sorry for these people who grow up with nothing and then because no one teaches them how to break the cycle they just live like that the rest of there lives. They just keep making the same mistakes and learn to live off of welfare.
A friend of mine was teaching day care and when one of the little boys would not listen the teacher said "don't you want to do good in school so you can have a good job someday" the little boy said " I don't want a job I am gonna do the same thing as my mommy and daddy, I'll just wait for the check" meaning the welfare check that comes twice a month. He learned from his parents that he never had to do anything because someone would be there to give him a free ride.
