thank you lee i do appreciate it, and yes the vikings and saxons were great fighters, as were the celts and the normans, but these days i would say that men are nothing compared to those great warriors. but hey it wasn't just the men who fought and if it wasn't for a great lady called Aethelflaed, the 'Lady of the Mercians', we wouldn't even have central england existing. in case you are wandering who i am going on about, she was the sister of edmund the elder and the daughter of alfred the great! just some boring history for you there!

I know, I went to school in Wednesbury though and have seen the place many times its where the Danes were checked its what shes manly remembered for in the Black Country. Its a very impressive location for a fort and the church built there has parts dating back to the 13th century. You can see Dudley castle from there. Wednesbury = Woden's Fort it was a center of Saxon paganism long after the country had been declared Christian. It also meant to be a site of a great battle where the Saxons beat the Celts and also there is evidence the romans were there and defeated the Britons. Its also said the 18th century people of Wednesbury were of Anglos Saxon ancestry which makes me very proud. The dialect is stronger than where I live and closer to the old Saxon speech to. Infact in Wednesbury they have a school called Wodensbourgh!

Its a shame we don't live in viking or Saxon times where people would do things by battle face to face, I for one would love this but thats not the way we do things. ;D Appealing as this idea may sound Warriors battling it out for a course and the gods siding with he who is fighting for right. In reality it would be those with the best army or the physically stronger who would win and not necessarily the one with the best course or augment. A case of might is right. With the violence in our society these days I am not sure things are so much different.

I am not surprised that they are laughed at when the behave like control freaks, the tradition it's self is OK it's just this lot who bring it into disrepute so don't judge all Seax by them, they are almost fundamentalist in nature.

hi pete just wandered what greengoddess had heard, but then realised earlier she is a member of AWA. it is true that they can be very controlling, i have expereinced this first hand, and it is how my partner decribed them aswell. he said the other night that if i say no to doing somethiing then thats it he won't try to persuade me cause he knows what i'm like and not to push it, so why the hell did others of that site think they had the rights to tell me what to do all the time?

It seems that most groups like to control their members Sam but this lot take the cake, perhaps we should call them the fundamentalist Seax from now on. Thats the beauty of being solitary you answer to yourself and your gods. Didn't someone say that the seemed evangelical in their attitudes a while back?

There was another post in this spot, however I deleted it.
I appreciate that this forum is for voicing anger on various situations, however we do not need to put up with profanity and name calling.
I think this has gone on long enough and it's time to end this thread.
